Normathane 50 FD is Nor-Maali’s new solvent-based polyurethane topcoat designed to ensure a fast production throughput. Together with a quick-drying epoxy primer, this semi-gloss polyurethane topcoat enhances your production process.
We are proud to introduce the new Normathane 50 FD polyurethane topcoat, designed for anticorrosion painting on steel surfaces together with an epoxy primer. The product represents modern polyurethane paint technology while offering the reliability of traditional polyurethane coatings.
The main advantage of the Normathane 50 FD topcoat is its extremely fast drying time. This feature not only accelerates the drying process in painting facilities but also allows for the swift packaging and assembly of painted parts. Normathane 50 FD becomes handle dry in just 1.5 hours at +23°C after application.
Despite its rapid drying, applying the product is still straightforward. Normathane 50 FD has a pot life of 1 hour, and the open time of the paint film is relatively long compared to its drying time, allowing the painting of even complex parts before the paint film dries too much.
Normathane 50 FD is a topcoat designed for a corrosion protection system in combination with a fast-drying epoxy primer. Nor-Maali´s recommendations for primers to use are NorECOat FD Primer and the higher solids content NorECOat HS Primer. The two-coat painting system can be applied within a single work shift thanks to its rapid drying time.
In two-coat systems, corrosion protection is achieved with the epoxy primer, while weather resistance and surface hardness are provided by the polyurethane topcoat. Increasing the film thickness of the epoxy coating achieves the desired corrosivity category.

Although Normathane 50 FD is a solvent-based product, its solvent composition is HAPs-free (Hazardous Air Pollutants free), meaning it does not contain solvents that would release toxic or harmful chemicals into the air. For this reason, Normathane 50 FD is a safer solvent-based coating for both the environment and the user.
Regulations are becoming increasingly stringent in many countries regarding industrial paint usage. Emissions must be reduced, and HAPs-free products help companies comply with regulations. A responsible user chooses a HAPs-free product.
